Scholastic Bowl Buzzes into a Great Season

The Galena varsity scholastic bowl team will start meets after the first of the year. The team is currently practicing and preparing for the upcoming season, with goals of continuing their past success, including the Bergstrom Stateline competition the team competes in. These matches are taped and aired on television. The team travels to Rockford for the filming of the show. Each team member must attend nineteen 45 minute practices before January 16, 2017.

Despite coming off a regional championship season and the loss of five seniors, current senior, Luc Pham, is not worried about this year’s team failing to live up to the accomplishments of last year’s. “Practices are going great. The team looks amazing this year. I think we can easily continue our winning streak and go undefeated in the upcoming season” said Luc. Luc is on track to break the record for the most correctly answered questions.

Coach Jenkins also has a positive outlook on this season. “Practices are going well. We have a really good sense of teamwork. Compared to last year our team captain is a whole year smarter and I hope that that pays of. I’m looking to some of the upcoming juniors and seniors to fill the gaps left by the seniors we lost last year” said Jenkins.
