The Galena High School Art Program would like to announce that GHS Junior, Luna Pham, was recently chosen as a winner in the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra Art Contest in the High School Color of Music Category.
Her artwork is titled “Wee Gallantry,” and Pham said, “Finlandia inspired me to portray the aftermath of a big battle with a little community. In this piece, the little citizens experienced torment from the evil orange cat. The apple and the sunflower on the flag symbolize the simple pleasures of everyday life that the little citizens have fought to reclaim. These little citizens of all ages and experiences have worked together to neutralize the cat. Despite the chaos, every member of the community feels valuable and victorious. ”
Luna’s art will be displayed on the front cover of one of four concert program book designs on February 28 and March 1, “Symphonic Landscapes” performances at Five Flags Theatre in Dubuque. The artwork will be on display at “The Color of Music” Exhibition.
