The Galena Varsity Pirates baseball team captured a gritty 5–4 victory over the Dakota Varsity Indians on Saturday, June 06, 2026. While the contest was hosted at Forreston High School, the Pirates played as the designated home team on the scoreboard.
Dakota struck first with a run in the opening frame and added two more in the third to take an early 3–0 lead. However, the Pirates refused to back down, answering back immediately in the bottom of the third inning with an explosive four-run surge to hijack the lead. Galena manufactured a crucial insurance run in the fifth, which ultimately proved to be the game-winner, as they successfully fended off a late-game push by the Indians.
