What Spaniards think about U.S politics

Carlos shares thoughts from Spain

I hear a lot of opinions about U.S situation right now, as the US is considered to be  a divided country because of its new controversial president, Donald J. Trump.

Most of the  opinions that I hear  come from my home country, Spain..

The rise of the extreme right political parties in countries like Germany, France and Austria has been helped by Donald Trump’s victory as the 45th President of the United States.

But in Europe, people in countries like Spain, United Kingdom and Italy there are many who do not seem to like the new president.

In Europe it is impossible to imagine someone  that hasn’t any experience as a politician becoming a President.

“This man is a problem for the U.S and for its citizens, but it is a bigger problem for the rest of the world. With his bad migration policies it is impossible to have good relations with other countries,” said  Senator Pedro Sanchez (Spanish Politician)

On his first week, the 45th President left us a very controversial notice; not allowing  citizens from seven predominantly Muslim countries to come  to the U.S.

In addition, people around the world know that Trump wants to build, a wall separating the U.S from Mexico.

“ I don’t understand how people can vote this racist, chauvinist and inexperienced man. The people is crazy,” said Sergio Herrero Segovia  a Spanish adult.

“ For us, it is impossible to think having a President like Trump,” Ignacio Olivares ( Spanish teen) .

This situation is not good for the U.S either for the rest of the world.  We only wish this person doesn’t start a new war with the rest of the world.
