Galena High Schools Key Club is always looking for ways to highlight all the hard work their members put in all year round. Key Club member of the month is the perfect way to put a spotlight on individual members and recognize all that they do. This is awarded to those who go above and beyond to showcase their commitment to service. Whether it’s stepping up when needed, taking on extra opportunities, or even just displaying valuable character, contribute to the criteria of this award.
During the winter months, junior Alivia Northrup and sophomore Eva Baisten were chosen to receive this award. Entering November, a decline in participation can be found due to the weather getting colder and moods swinging lower, but not for Northrup. She was an invaluable member when it came to all things service and mindset. “Alivia earned Key Club Member of the month because she showed up in November and put in a ton of hours. She volunteers for lots of service activities and always comes with a smile and a positive attitude,” shared Co-Adviser Mrs. Bookless. Northup’s efforts were not unnoticed and showcased the versatility of our members who can balance all that is asked of them with ease.
In December, Baisten put in countless hours during the holiday season, making it all the more magical for students and community mem
bers. “Eva is a very ambitious and valuable Key Club member! She volunteers for nearly every activity we post on Google Classroom for our members, and often volunteers all by herself. We have had numerous organizations reach out to let us know what a kind and hard-working person she is, and how much her help was appreciated. We are so proud of her service through the GHS Key Club!” said Co-Adviser Mrs. McIntrye. Holiday events were a huge success because of Baisten and other active members, which speaks to the vitality of giving back in any way possible in order to make a true difference.
