The Galena JV Basketball team has started the season 4-6. With only returning three sophomores and gaining a new JV coach, Matt Weinen, the JV squad is eager to prove people wrong.
After getting second place in a home tournament and losing a close matchup verse East Dubuque, the boys responded by winning easily against Pearl City at home.
When asked on how the team was able to come together and play passionately despite starting three freshman, Ryan Holland said, “I think we come together more and more every day. We all have the same goal and that is to be competitive and win.”
The team will now enter a tough stretch with two or more games every week, most of them being against conference foes.
“I think the sky’s the limit” said Head Coach Matt Weinen, “As long as we don’t let the little things distract us and we keep giving our maximum effort, we can be successful in anything we put our minds to.”
