The varsity basketball team does a huddle before they start to discuss the game plan.

On Tuesday, Feb. 19, the Galena boys basketball team played the East Dubuque Warriors, at home, in their second regional game. The boys lost 48-39 against the Warriors, keeping the game close for a majority of the game.

Senior and leading scorer for the game, Conner Einsweiler said “I think we all played a really great game and the effort was at an all time high. We are extremely disappointed about the result, however I’m proud of how we played and competed with one of the best teams in the state.”

The loss knocked the Pirates out of the post-season tournament, advancing East Dubuque to play next on Friday Feb. 22.
