Kaden+Hauber
Pirate Competitor of the Week (February 14, 2022):
Freshman Kaden Hauber is this week’s Pirate Competitor of the Week sponsored by Galena Culver’s and the Galena Gazette.  Kaden averaged 15 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists per game to help the Pirates go 2-0 this week.  According to coach Matt Wienen, “These past couple of games Kaden has really picked up his effort when we needed him the most. On the defensive end, he’s the one we stick on the other team’s best shooter. All year he’s done a very good job shutting this player down.  On offense he’s really bought into his role to help our team win. He’s always been a really good shooter, but the last couple games he’s been attacking the basket.  He’s really done a great job of developing himself into a two-way threat on the offensive end of the floor.  He is one of the hardest working kids in the gym everyday. Always working on the things he can get better at. Keep up the good work Kaden!”  Kaden was honored with a gift basket from the Galena Culver’s, as well as a newspaper courtesy of the Galena Gazette.
Also Nominated:

Sophomore Connor Glasgow averaged 19 points, 13 rebounds and 2 blocks per game last week.  Coach Matt Wienen offered, “Connor is one of the most versatile players I’ve ever coached. Everyone that’s seen Connor knows he can score. He has a natural ability to shoot and attack the baskets on drives. But his biggest attribute to our team is his ability to rebound the basketball.  On the season Connor is averaging 12 rebounds a game.  He reads the ball so well coming off the rim after a shoot. Not too many players can do that.  With his ability to score on offense and rebound, he is becoming a great two way player. He has a great work ethic and I’m looking forward to watching him finish the season strong and continue getting better!”
