This week we have two outstanding student-athletes to recognize as Co-Pirate Competitors of the Week sponsored by Galena Culver’s and the Galena Gazette.

Sophomore Addie Hefel averaged 16 ppg  2 assists, 4.5 steals, and 4 rebounds last week.  She had 14 points and 6 steals vs Fulton in the Regional semifinal.  Addie followed that up with 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals to lead the Pirates to a 47-32 victory over Eastland in the Regional Championship.

Freshman Gracie Furlong averaged 15 ppg, 1 assist, 5 steals, and 2 rebounds last week.  She had 14 points and 6 steals vs Fulton in the Regional semifinal.  In Thursday’s regional championship, Gracie had 16 points, 3 rebounds, 4 steals in the victory.

According to coach Jamie Watson, “Addie and Gracie have had phenomenal seasons this year and they were fantastic last week in helping us win the Regional Championship.  Their hard work in the offseason and continued hard work throughout this year has really paid off.  They continue to improve and are going to be a vital part of our postseason success this season and in years to come.”
