Freshman Hayden Bradbury Earned “Man of the Match” Honors

April 11, 2026

GHS Freshman, Hayden Bradbury, received the “Our Man of the Match” on Friday, April 10.  Hayden is one of the 1st players to come through the Farm Boys Rugby summer program. Under adverse circumstances, Hayden played his first varsity minutes, logging FULL minutes in our last 2 matches. We started with 1 sub and ended the night with 7 players. Hayden played without fear, improved, and gave everything he had.

Joined together, Ayla Harris '28 poses proudly with her parents,as she displays her Galena Rotary Student of the Quarter Award. Harris was honored with a luncheon at the Desoto House to celebrate her well-deserved award. "It means a lot to be recognized by my community, and I'm really grateful to the Galena Rotary for supporting students and encouraging us to keep working hard," said Harris when asked what it meant to her to receive this award.

Beginnings of a new year! Allana Pithound ‘29, Michael Foley ‘28, Marck Hernandez, and Briar Winter ‘29 pose for a photo in the halls of GHS. They’ve come from quite different walks of life, but have all gathered here in Galena. “My experience here has been pretty good. I’m super excited about everything here!” said Winter.

GHS Seniors Park in Style with a New Tradition
Time for new beginnings! Sarah Bello ‘25, Anthony Aburto-Garcia ‘25, Alfredo Jimenez ‘25, Yulissa Garcia ‘25, Marisol Trujillo ‘25, and Cata Mauro ‘25 say their last goodbye to GHS. The class of 2025 was celebrated for all their hard work and dedication on Sunday, May, 18 at GEMS. “Estoy tan orgullosa de poder decir que me gradué en Galena High School,” exclaimed Mauro ‘25. (I am so proud to say that I graduated from Galena High School.)
From Cap and Gown to the Great Unknown
We had so much fun playing games and goofing around, and dabbed in gambling! The senior class went on their senior trip to the Kalahari. Some seniors played games with teachers and spent their money on scratch-offs. Can't wait to see our seniors' next adventure. Conner Soat said,  “The water park was so much fun, definitely better than school. The best part of the whole thing was buying scratch-off tickets on the way back.”

An unforgettable night of dancing, laughter, and surprises—complete with an exciting iPad giveaway that had everyone on the edge of their seats! All week students competed in buying stuff, shooting three throws, and dressing to the themed day to get entries for the iPad. “ I really really really wanted the IPad, I was going to bribe people for it.” Said Cameron Einsweiler 26’,” Quin said,”$500 for it” but I decided not to.”
Have you ever wondered where students get their stylish fit from? The pubs class asked four students where they got their outfits from. “I thought it was a creative way to get content for the newspaper,” said Mrs.Bookles. And Fit Checks are all over my TikTok!”
