The girls do not three putt

“Seeing them improve and just having fun with them,  making them smile and laugh sometimes” said Jeff Hyde. The girls are 0-4-1 starting off the season, but “They have a lot of potential and are improving every day,” said Jeff Hyde. At Galena High School we do have a big golf team this year! There are thirteen girls, so the girls do not have to play with the boys.

The girls can have fun at practice, but still improve. Kayla Casper a former player on the team always hears her coach, Jeff Hyde repeatedly saying, “Casper, head down, bend your knees.” The girls learn while having fun at practices, and they bring what they learn to the meets to help their scores improve.

You may also see the girls golf team riding the Pirate short bus. Jeff Hyde says, “We are a pretty close group, and with the smaller bus we can communicate with each other better.” The smaller bus can help the team get closer, as well as making coach and team interaction easier.

He sees the boys having a good chance of going to sectionals as a team, but if the girls keep improving and work hard then he sees the girls going as a team as well. Jeff Hyde said, “If we keep improving along the way regionals will be interesting. We could be a scary team,”said the girls coach, Jeff Hyde. The girls have many meets left, regionals, and sectionals and possibly state to follow.
