The Lady Pirates played the Eastland Cougars in the semi-final round of the Class 1A Galena Regional. The Pirates had an unfortunate loss and ended their season early. The score of the game was 31 to 48. “We played a good game and they definitely had to earn their win” said Mackenzie Muehleip ‘20.

The Pirates got beat by the Cougars earlier in the season, but they were ready to fight back. “We knew who their best players were and we just had to stay on top of them said Corrina Noble ‘21. The Pirates stayed with them for the first half, but unfortunately the Cougars were able to pull ahead in the second half.

The lead scorers of the game were Gracie Wubben ‘20 and Noble both with seven points. Sami Wasmud ‘20 followed with six points. “Even though our season ended early, I am already so excited for next year because we have almost all returning players” said Wasmund.

The Lady Pirates finished out the season with a record of 19-10. This young team is not finished yet. The Pirates will continue to word hard during the off season and get ready for next season. “Next year is our year” said Lizzy Eaton ‘20. Great season Lady Pirates.
