Two weeks into the basketball season, the Girl’s Basketball team has a record of 5-0. The teams first game of the season was Warren. The Pirates won 75-20, while also beating their own record for most threes in a game- 11 for 15. The team also had a whopping 22 assists collectively, and everyone who got in the game scored for the team. Freshman Taylor Burcham said, “It was our first game, but we came out really strong and showed what we are capable of as a team this season.” She also said, “It was really fun, everyone scored, we shared the ball, and we all just had a good time out there. I think that’s a major reason we did so well.”

The Pirates went on to play Warren again, Polo, and East Dubuque twice. They walked away from every game with wins. “It feels good to still be undefeated. People will tell us it isn’t that great of an accomplishment, but we are all really proud of ourselves” said junior Sydney Einswieler.

The girl’s play again on Tuesday, February 23. They will play River Ridge/Scales Mound at River Ridge. “They’ve improved this year, so it should be an interesting game, it always is with them. Go stream it!” says junior Claire Martensen.

All games are streamed on NFHS Network. All home games are streamed for free on Galena Stream YouTube channel.
