Captain: Connor and Ethan get a picture with their medals after a long championship game. “It’s a great feeling to be told you are one of the top six players,” said Glasgow 24′. “It really shows how hard work pays off”.

Pirates Connor Glasgow 24’ and Ethan Hefel 22’ were awarded All Tournament Team. On December 27 through the 30 the boys basketball team played in the Eastland Tournament. The team played a game each day and won their first three games to advance into the championship game. Before the championship, they announced the players who made the “All Tournament Team.” There were eight teams in this tournament and only six total people were selected to the team.

“It was a great accomplishment to see how I compared to other athletes,” said Hefel. “It was really exciting to not only get the award but to also receive it with a teammate.” In addition to being named a member of the All Tournament Team, Hefel scored his 1000th point and had one of his best games of the season so far.

“I felt really accomplished to receive the award after how well the tournament had been going for our team at that point,” said Glasgow. “It was very motivating and encouraging to find this out right before such a big game.” Not all teams had a player make the team let alone Galena having two so it was a great honor for the two of them to receive it.

The team lost in the championship game but had a super successful tournament. This was the first time Galena boys have played in the tournament’s championship since 2006 so making it was honorable let alone two players getting such a great award.
