For senior Violet Doyle, this fall was supposed to be the opportunity to finish her volleyball career the way every athlete hopes: surrounded by her teammates, creating those last memories, and taking in every final moment on the court. A painful and unexpected injury changed everything, though. A break in multiple metatarsal bones of her foot ended her season early, long before she was ready to let go.
No senior wants to be put in a position where they must watch their team from the sidelines, but Violet handled this with the strength and maturity her team has always admired. While injured, Violet remained involved, supported her teammates, and stayed connected to the game she loves.
But Violet’s story doesn’t end with volleyball. Soccer season is just around the corner, and already her mentality has changed. Her determination is evident as she remains committed not just to recovery but also to maintaining discipline and being ready for her opportunity to take the field once again this spring. When asked what her goals were, she did not hesitate: “to be 100% recovered and to have the best season of my career so far.”
Her soccer coach is confident she’ll get there: “Violet is the kind of player every coach wants, composed, hardworking, and team-first. Even injured, she stays involved and does everything she can for the team. We can’t wait to have her back on the field this spring.”
Even though her senior volleyball season did not end the way she envisioned, what stands out most is Violet’s resilience. She has shown what it means to face setbacks with grit, support your team no matter what, and stay committed even when the season does not go as planned.
As she continues to heal and prepares for her final high school soccer season, one thing is clear: Violet is far from done. Her comeback is already in motion, and her teammates, coaches, and community will be ready to cheer her on every step of the way.
